Believe it or not, sometimes even Paradise gets a little bit of dreary weather. It may not have been a great day for heading to the beach to soak up some rays, but it was evident, with a stroll around the quaint beach town, that Puerto Morelos remains a paradise… even when Mother Nature is not cooperating.
The beach was almost deserted, but the peacefulness of the lapping waves against the shoreline spoke volumes to those that listened.
The barren boardwalks seemed to be abandoned for the day.
The town landmark, the leaning lighthouse, waited patiently for tourists to come take their souvenir photos.
The brilliant colors of the bougainvillea along the streets helped brighten the dismal day.
Crowds were sparse at the local eateries due to a spattering of rain here and there. Restaurants typically line the streets with outdoor tables, so the weather was definitely affecting their business on this day.
The Little Mexican Cooking School was preparing for the day’s class. Rain or shine, it’s always a fun time!
Vacationers at rental homes and condos were thankful to see blue skies on occasion peeking out from behind the clouds.
Only a handful of people ambled through the town square which is typically bustling with shoppers and travelers.
Puerto Morelos fell silent for these few hours, and beachgoers had some time to ease the pains of sunburn. Soon, very soon, the dark clouds will drift away and the bright sun will be back – shining brightly in paradise!
